Goodluck India Expands into Defence Sector with New Production Facility

Overview

Goodluck India (NSE: GOODLUCK, BSE: 530655) has made a strategic leap in its defence sector expansion journey by commencing commercial production at its wholly owned subsidiary, Goodluck Defence and Aerospace Limited, in Sikandrabad, Uttar Pradesh, on October 8, 2025.

This new step represents a key milestone in Goodluck India’s transformation from a steel engineering player to a multi-sector manufacturer with a growing footprint in defence and aerospace. The newly established facility, located at Plot No. 80, 81 & 82, Sherpur Road, Faridpur, Sikandrabad, will focus on manufacturing precision-engineered components for the defence sector, including artillery shells and aerospace structures.

This expansion not only diversifies Goodluck India’s revenue streams but also aligns with India’s ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ vision—boosting domestic defence production and reducing import dependency.

Artillery Shell Manufacturing: Strengthening India’s Defence Capabilities

In a significant step, Goodluck Defence and Aerospace has secured an industrial license under the Indian Arms Act, 1959, for artillery shell manufacturing. This license authorizes the company to manufacture various calibers including 105mm, 120mm, 125mm, 130mm, and 155mm shells.

Among these, the 155mm category covers key types such as HE M107, ERFB, ERFB BB, and ERFB BIT medium-caliber shells — crucial components for the Indian Army’s artillery modernization plans.

  • Initial capacity: 150,000 shells per annum

  • Trial production: Expected to start Q3FY26

  • Full-scale operations: Planned soon after successful trials

This achievement reinforces Goodluck India’s technical capability and engineering precision, placing it among the few Indian companies licensed to produce such critical defence equipment.

Joining the AMCA Programme

In parallel, Goodluck India has signed a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with BrahMos Aerospace Thiruvananthapuram Ltd (BATL) and Axiscades Technologies Ltd to jointly participate in the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) programme.

The AMCA programme, led by the Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) in Bengaluru, represents India’s next-generation stealth fighter project. Goodluck India’s participation will involve supplying precision components and materials for the aircraft’s structural framework, further cementing its role in India’s aerospace growth story.

Chairman Mahesh Chandra Garg commented:

“Our participation in the AMCA programme and artillery manufacturing reflects Goodluck India’s dedication to innovation, operational excellence, and strengthening India’s defence autonomy.”

Regulatory Compliance and Market Impact

In compliance with Regulation 30 of SEBI (LODR) Regulations, 2015, Goodluck India promptly informed the stock exchanges about these developments. Analysts view this as a strong signal of the company’s intent to scale operations in high-value manufacturing sectors.

Investors have responded positively to Goodluck India’s defence sector expansion, anticipating long-term revenue growth and improved margins. Success, however, will hinge on execution efficiency, government contracts, and technological partnerships.
